Subject: Morgenkaffeseminar onsdag 26. november: Austrian sector-specific

In ICT environments, the Austrian E-Government Act allows only the storage
and use of so-called sector-specific personal identifiers
(bereichsspezifisch abgeleitete Personenkennzeichnung, bPK) that exist for
each live situation. Thus, for electronic communications, these numbers
are decisive for automated processing of applications. As this idea proved
quite appropriate to today's data protection concerns, use of the bPK is
also highly encouraged for the private sector (e.g. a derived number for
each business (or private) relationship). Thus, the bPK seems to be a
solution for the necessity of identification (e.g. a number) in
e-government environments with apppropriate taking into account of data
protection.
