Aftenposten er ute og promoterer fingeravtrykk som
identifikasjonsmetode i

stjele andres avtrykk,
<URL:http://www.schneier.com/crypto-gram-0205.html#5>:
Tsutomu Matsumoto, a Japanese cryptographer, recently decided to
look at biometric fingerprint devices. These are security systems
that attempt to identify people based on their fingerprint. For
years the companies selling these devices have claimed that they are
very secure, and that it is almost impossible to fool them into
accepting a fake finger as genuine. Matsumoto, along with his
students at the Yokohama National University, showed that they can
be reliably fooled with a little ingenuity and $10 worth of
household supplies.
En annen viser det samme,
<URL:http://www.diva-portal.org/liu/abstract.xsql?dbid=2397>:
The experiments focus on making artificial fingerprints in gelatin
from a latent fingerprint. Nine different systems were tested at the
CeBIT trade fair in Germany and all were deceived. Three other
different systems were put up against more extensive tests with
three different subjects. All systems werecircumvented with all
subjects'artificial fingerprints, but with varying results. The
results are analyzed and discussed, partly with help of the A/R
value defined in this report.
En tredje undersøkelse viste at fingeravtrykkslesere ikke klarer å
skille mellom døde og levende fingre,
<URL:http://www.yubanet.com/cgi-bin/artman/exec/view.cgi/8/28878>:
In the laboratory, the researchers then systematically tested more
than 60 of the faked samples. The results were a 90 percent false
verification rate.
