     research Friday 18. March at 10.15

Hildur Thorarensen from NSD: Data Protection Official (Norsk senter for 
forskningsdata) will visit Ifi and present the legal duty of researchers to 
notify NSD if their research involve personal data. This is relevant for much 
of the research that involves people in informatics.

// /Researchers and students at Norwegian universities and university colleges 
have a legal duty to notify NSD if they are to process personal data in their 
research. The NSD - Data Protection Official assesses research projects in 
accordance with Norwegian laws, and offers advice and guidance regarding data 
protection in research. In this presentation we will go through how the 
notification duty works, and also discuss some methodological, ethical and 
legal challenges that may arise when processing personal data in research./


/Personvern i forskning/
///Forskere og studenter ved norske universiteter og høyskoler har en lovpålagt 
plikt til å sende melding til NSD dersom de skal behandle personopplysninger i 
sine forskningsprosjekter. Personvernombudet ved NSD har som hovedoppgave å 
vurdere forskningsprosjekter i forhold til gjeldende lovverk, samt gi råd og 
veiledning om personvern i forskning. I denne presentasjonen gis det en 
gjennomgang av hvordan meldeplikten fungerer, samt hvilke metodiske, etiske og 
juridiske utfordringer som kan oppstå ved bruk av personopplysninger i 
forskning//. /
