Datatilsynet henviser til Lov om behandling av personopplysninger (personopplysningsloven) som videre henviser til GDPR.

Her er en guideline som et utgitt av European Data Protection Board:

Den sier bl.a.

"Pursuant to Article 2 (2) (c), the processing of personal data by a natural person in the course of apurely personal or household activity, which can also include online activity, is out of the scope of the GDPR."

og nevner dashcams side 10:

"If a dash cam is installed (e.g. for the purpose of collecting evidence in case of anaccident), it is important to ensure that this camera is not constantly recording traffic, as well as persons who are near a road. Otherwise the interest in having video recordings as evidence in the more theoretical case of a road accident cannot justify this serious interference with datasubject’s rights."
